Meh... typical CIA-written book... the Hinckley back-story is appalling.Bush tried to have Reagan killed. The 'smoking gun'? Watch "The Saving of the President" on YouTube. It's a 30-minute documentary produced in late 1981 by the PR department of GW Univ. Hospital. It gives first-hand accounts from the doctors and nurses on staff -- re-enacted for the viewer. The doctor who first discovered a bullet hole in Reagan's side ALSO says (find it at the 8:20 mark)..."There was a blackish rim around the wound."I don't know too much about anything, but that sounds like POWDER BURNS to me.Powder burns indicate that JERRY PARR shot Reagan INSIDE the limo. It was NOT a ricochet from Hinckley's weapon. This means it was an "Inside Job" (isn't everything?) -- and Reagan was supposed to die that day.Nevertheless, George H.W. Bush effectively 'took over' the Reagan presidency for the next 8 years.Even Reagan's son Michael says, "My Dad was never the same after the assassination attempt."My belief is that Reagan realized it was Parr who shot him.He kept saying, "What I can't figure out is the DELAY between the time I allegedly got hit by Hinckley's bullet, and when I first felt the pain. It felt like Jerry Parr hit me with a hammer!"Put 2 and 2 together, folks...
The insight and time line that led to the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan is meticulously written. The bravery of the brave Secret Service and FBI reminds us of the dedication they have to our great nation.
O'reilly's historical treatises on famous figures are always factual and satisfying! This book exhibits pains - taking research - as do all his books, Offers solutions to any and all questions. I recommend this book without any reservations!
This is a child version ( of Killing Reagan ) covering the events that led up to the shooting of President Ronald Reagan . It is a good source of information for children from about 11- 14.
Important history done very well. Adolph Hitler in 1940 said, "how fortunate for those of us in power that people don't read." In 2016, things have gotten worse instead of better. When people don't have a good education there can be many reasons to explain that. When people are ill informed, there is no explanation and there is no excuse. O'Reilly makes reading fun and informative.
This is a very quick read and so interesting with details I was unaware of prior to reading this book. I highly recommend it.
I loved this book. Great reading. Bill O"Reilly knows how to write a good book
Remembered the day but learned some new details. Love Reagan! Thanks for the research, Mr. O'Reilly.
