What do you get when you couple a mountain man with a city girl? One really awesome book!I've been a fan of Marie Force for a long time and I enjoy every single one of the books she has written, including both her series; the Fatal series and her Gansett Island series. But, I have to say that after this book, I think the Green Mountain series has just taken the top spot. There was something about Colton and Lucy that had me captivated from the first chapter.Colton Abbott has lived on "his" mountain for years and run the family syrup making business keeping his life, and the goings on in his life, fairly well kept secrets from the rest of his very large, well meaning family. It comes to the attention of his family that Colton has begun to spend his weekends with a "mystery woman."The "mystery woman" is none other than the best friend of Colton's brother Will's new girlfriend, Cameron. Lucy Mulvaney came to Butler, Vermont for the website presentation that she and Cameron were doing for the Green Mountain Store, little did she know she was also going to find the love of her life.Over the course of this book, there is no doubt how Colton and Lucy feel about one another and how much they want to be together. What they struggle with and have to try to determine is how they are going to make a relationship work when there is 6 hours between the two cities where they live and neither one can see being uprooted from the careers and cities they love.Marie Force has the gift of creating characters that have heart, humor and that you want to spend time with. I adored this book and can't wait to read the next one in this series in March of 2015.
5 STARS!!!!I am falling more and more in love with this series. Colton is becoming one of my favorites right along with Will.If you have read the past books in this series you will know that Colton has a secret girlfriend. He will not tell anyone who he is seeing or what he is doing on his mysterious weekend getaways.For the other siblings in the Abbott family it is driving them crazy because this is so unlike Colton and they really want to know who it is. They try everything they can to get it out of him but he is not budging.He is a mountain man through and through. He lives right next door to his sugaring facility where they make syrup. He lives in the cabin that his grandparents built and still to this day has no running water or electricity. He has a bathhouse that he can take showers in and use the bathroom. He loves his life on mountain but ever since he met the beautiful Lucy at the store the day of the reveal of the first part of the website he has been thinking that something else is missing.Lucy is Cam's best friend and business partner. Ever since Cam moved to Vermont to work on the website they started together for the store she has been busy picking up the slack from Cam's absent. They hired a competitor to help in Cam's place. She is very happy in New York and loves living close to her family, but meeting the Abbott's and especially Colton she has seen that she needs something in her life.Why Lucy has thought to herself over the past few weeks is she doing this with Colton when neither of them will be able to move for the other is beyond her but she can not quit meeting up with him. They get together every weekend with the exception of his sisters dog's funeral that was the only weekend in six weeks that they have not been together.Lincoln (Colton's dad) suspects that Colton has been going off to see Lucy. Ever since they were all out to eat dinner the night he met Lucy him and is wife Molly could see a spark between Colton and Lucy. Ever since then Colton has been going away on the weekends and has even shaved off his beard that he has had since high school. After he did that the whole family knew what ever was going on was serious.Lincoln sets Colon up. He offers for him to go to New York for a seminar to see about bringing pleasure aides into the store. He figures if Colton takes him up on the offer to spend a week in NY then he was right. And of course Colton takes him up on his offer.They have fooled around but have not went all the way yet. But, Colton hopes to change that when he asks his dad for the keys to the lake cabin. He is going to meet Lucy there and they are going to spend a few days together there. He is looking forward to getting even further with her than the last few weekends. And to tell her about his trip to NY.Will has been worried about Cam. She has been working so hard that he is wearing herself out. He goes to his parents house to talk to them and his mom asks her if she could be pregnant. He told her he didn't think so she was just tired from working so hard. He wanted to use the cabin that weekend so Cam could get some much-needed rest.Now Lincoln knows that Colton is going to be at the cabin this weekend but he figured he would set it up to where someone would find out what was going on. And boy do they get an eye full when they get to the cabin.Cam is hurt and upset that Lucy kept this from her but Lucy told her that it was nothing serious. Even though they had finally went all the way and it was better than she could have ever imagined and she was starting to fall for Colton she could not let it get serious because she was not going to move to Vermont and Colton couldn't give up his mountain.Colton is pissed that his dad set all of this up and after Will refused to leave because it was a big house and Cam needed the break he told them they could have it and the next day he was going to take Lucy to his mountain. He would have left right then because he wanted to be alone with Lucy and continue what they had just done. But she wanted to spend a little bit of time with Cam because they never get to see each other anymore.The next day he took her to his mountain and the day just got better and better. When they got to his place his parents were there. She told him the cat was out of the bag now. She loved his parents from what time she had spent with them before and from all that Cam has said about them.Colton lets his dad know that he does not appreciate what he had done that they were not ready to come out together yet. He apologized to Colton and he was floored that his father actually apologized. They left and Colton showed Lucy around the house. Then they were going to start getting busy but he had customers.Then when he got the customer sent on her way they picked up where they left off and then there was a knock at the door. And it was a woman. Well, Lucy figured she would take care of that. She started a rumor about Colton. She figured if she said that it would keep the rest of his harem away.He didn't really appreciate the rumor she had started but he went with it. They went to his moms for lunch and everyone was already talking about the rumor. His twin brothers Lucas and Landon came running in the house in their turn-out gear because they had heard what had happened.   After that they settled into a nice weekend. It was the best weekend they had spent together and neither one of them was looking forward to her leaving. They were falling for each other even though neither one of them wanted to admit it yet.Once Lucy left Colton bought him a cell phone so he could talk to her every night. He knew he couldn't go without it after that weekend. He stopped by his brother Max's place to see him while he was in town. He was having a hard time but bugged out when he found out his mountain man brother was getting a phone.Max told him he was going with him to see this. On the way to the phone store Max asked him how he was going to charge his cell phone. That was something Colin had not thought about. Max busted out laughing and told him he knew where he could get a generator. So Colton headed home with a phone and a generator.When he called Lucy later that night she could not believe what he had done just to be able to talk to her. They were both missing each other but it was only for a few days because he was headed to NY that weekend for a week.When Colton arrived in NY she was not there. He started to panic thinking she had changed her mind. Cam assured him that she would tell him if she had. She gave Colton her address and when he got there he could not believe what he saw. (I will not reveal what that was because it was something that helped to set the story.)That week in NY flew by but it was a great week for both of them. They grew even more close and he seemed to fit in. She didn't want to think about it because she knew it would never happen.Colton had asked her to go to his sister Hannah's wedding the next weekend and she agreed. While he was in NY she got an invite for that weekend to Hannah's bridal shower. Colton asked her to work hard that week at work so she could take the whole next week off and come to Vermont with him. She was able to do that.While she was in Vermont she was falling harder and harder and she could not see a happy ending in sight. She told Cam she thought she was going to end it after Hannah's wedding because it was going hurt worse in a few months when it all went wrong.What happened during the weekend of Hannah's wedding? Did Lucy break it off with Colton? Did he let her go? What happened when she went back home?Those are questions you are going to have to ask yourself when you read the book. I highly recommend this book. Second favorite so far. Will and Cameron are still my favorite but Colton is working his way in there. I really can't wait to read Lucas and Landon's stories. I know they are going to be hot. But, also in this book we got to see a little more of Ella and Gavin. Can't wait to find out what is going to happen there. Also, will Hunter ever get up the nerve to ask out Megan? We shall see.Until tomorrow when I finish reading And I love her (Green Mountain Series book: 4).
