Purchased for college as a required reading book. as it turns out I really enjoy the commentary and would recommend this book to anyone.
It’s a very good book it a person wishes to study more than just the verses it gives clarity to time period and what’s going on around the events and what reasons God led the prophets to do what was needed to be done
Very informative. It’s has become a great reference book for me.
This book is not light reading. It is a serious study of the Old Testament Prophets their time and their work. It is a great resource when working your way through any study of the books written by the prophets. It give you insight to general time frame of prophecies, the context into which the prophecies were written, and the subsequent fulfillment of those prophecies.
I order a used copy. It arrived quickly and was in very good condition. I am finding it very helpful in preparing for my class. Happy that I purchased it and recommend it to anyone wanting to understand the Prophets. The book gives many good details that make the study interesting.
An excellent read. Lots of information, very scholarly written.
I appreciate Chisolm's commitment to the Biblical text, and to the grammatical-historical setting. I have used the book primarily in connection with teaching through Isaiah. I also use Chisolm's "From Exegesis to Exposition" to help with grammatical matters.
I love Chisholm. The way that he presents both sides of Biblical academic thought is a breath of fresh air! He explains the extremes and then discusses them in an intellectual manner. One of my favorite college books!
